Dia de los Muertos...in Watercolor

This is a tattoo design for a friend.  She is Columbian and wanted a Dia de los Muertos-based design for her shoulder blade and back.
This is the first watercolor I've done since about 2006....and really I didn't know I could watercolor.  What do you think?

Hellboy: In Process- Thumbnail

Today, I thought it would be fun to start a process post.  I am itching to draw a Hellboy image.  I came up with one yesterday and decided that it would be good to show the process of my work.

So this is my thumbnail.  I took about 15 minutes on this one, and did a few more that were about 5-10 minutes each.  I decided on this one because of the focus on Hellboy, the eye movement from the harpies, and the depth I can create with the rocks in the FG and the church/house in the BG.  I am thinking about putting some splashing water on the rocks in front of Hellboy and possibly more in the right side as well.  I'll play with that idea in the pencil stage and see what it does...

The Toothy Comics

Comfort Dental has approved this comic for the back of their new toothbrushes!  They are also doing a series of comics on their facebook timeline page.  Don't know when either is coming, but when I hear...so will you!

Comic Fest 2012

Grail Knights: Dr Evil Skull

This character is a character for a death metal band in Germany called the Grail Knights.  His mane is Dr. Evil Skull.  This project is a true testament to the necessity to have an online artistic and personality presence.  They found my website last summer and have finally commissioned me for some image....from half a world away!  I am going to be doing some images for them coming up here soon, so I figured I'd play with the colors of this character and the over all look of the character himself.  I believe the image is successful, the colors are ok.  Thoughts?

The Adventures of Toothy

The Adventures of Toothy is a comic strip that will hopefully be used by Comfort Dental on their facebook page and on the back of their new toothbrush.  Look for it!  And if you don't see it...we'll let's just say I agree with Toothy on this one!

This has definitely been a week for my freelance work.  I am about to start work on making a Death Metal band comic characters, and I recently came back in contact with an old friend from high school who needed a comic strip for....Comfort Dental?!  And who did he think of?  that's right me.  So here's a preview, more to show later.
